It’s stamped on our birth certificates and it follows us for life on our ID cards. Gender: “F” for female, “M” for male. But today, the line is being blurred and for a large part of the new generation, it doesn’t mean much anymore. Les Jours went to meet a group of friends who neither identify as “F” or “M”, who say neither “he” or “she” but “they”. “Je, tu, iel” is a four-part documentary series that highlights the fluidity of gender through sounds and images.

For a year I followed a group of first-year students at Nanterre university with journalist Charlotte Rotman. I produced and directed a four-part series about love with four students.
Each episode included laughter, embarrassment, feminism and questions about what’s expected of them. They have fun in the amphitheatre, fall in love on their summer holidays, add each other on Facebook and send each other photos on Snapchat. A series about love in 2018, “C’est l’amour à la fac” deals with how we present ourselves on our phones, our apps and how this manifests itself in real life.

I wanted to record the young people around me at a very special moment: Donald Trump was about to get elected. This podcast is about being young in New York. I interviewed young adults about different subjects such as Bernie Sanders’ being a candidate, wearing the hijab, or the relationship to the body. Each episode is an interview, the “Tinderstories” are about Tinder.
